Caring For Your Butter’s Board

DO

Wipe your board down after use with a wet, soapy sponge, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Moisture makes woodgrain expand and contract temporarily, so washing both sides of the board will ensure this natural process occurs uniformly, to help prevent warping. Stand it on edge, with both sides exposed to the air and let it dry overnight.  Also try to store your Butter’s Board on edge and not flat.

Our Board Butter is a food grade inert mineral oil that helps keep our boards conditioned and ready for everyday use. To keep your boards long-lasting, every 2-3 months apply a light coat to all sides of your clean, dry cutting board, and let it soak in for a few hours before buffing off the excess with a clean, lint-free rag.

DON’T

Don't soak your cutting board or leave it sitting in water.  Don’t dry the boards flat. Never, ever put a wood cutting board in the dishwasher! Don’t apply organic oils such as olive, or cooking oils as they are organic and will harbor bacteria).
